French West Africa used the CFA Franc following the end of WWII, in which AOF supplied many Pied-Noir troops to the Free French Forces (similarly in WWI), and 1 and 2 Francs in aluminium were issued in 1948, with trial versions existing. 5, 10, and 25 Franc coins were issued in 1956 in aluminium-bronze, all featuring the gazelle and wreath design.
